Red hot water (at the bottom of the display) and espresso (top middle of display) lights indicate a temporary machine defect.
This can usually be resolved by switching the machine off and on again several times.
If this does not resolve the fault, please carry out a descale:
- Turn off the machine and ensure the lever is closed.
- Fill the water tank with 1 litre of water and 2 sachets of Nespresso descaling liquid.
- Attach the water tank to the machine.
- Place an empty container (1.5 litre) under the coffee outlet.
- Press and hold the Ristretto button and switch the machine to "ON". The Ristretto button will light up red.
- Press the Ristretto button to start the descaling process. Descaling liquid will flow from the coffee and hot water nozzle.
- When descaling is finished, the Lungo button will light up red.
- Empty the water receptacle and put it back under the coffee outlet.
- Empty the water tank and rinse it with clean water.
- Fill the tank with clean water and attach it to the machine.
- Press the Lungo button to start the rinsing process. When rinsing has finished, the flow will stop and the Lungo button will remain lit up red.
- Turn on the machine. Lights in Ristretto, Espresso and Lungo buttons will flash white while the machine is heating up.
Your machine is now ready to use.
